Ronald Hernandez, DC, graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Finance and Management from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2002. In 2004, he obtained his certification as a personal trainer from the National Council of Strength and Fitness (NCSF). He then completed his doctorate degree in chiropractic medicine, graduating Magna Cum Laude, from National University of Health Sciences. Throughout his extensive residency, which included Northwestern and DePaul Universities, he worked alongside high school, college, and professional athletes, where he focused on sports medicine, physical therapy, and functional rehabilitation. Although Dr. Ron is a sports medicine doctor at heart, he also takes interest in physical therapy, functional rehabilitation, performance therapy, sports psychology, nutritional counseling, performance taping, and acupuncture. He is a Double Board Certified Specialitist as a Diplomate with the American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians (DACBSP), a Diplomate with the American Chiropractic Rehabilitation Board (ACRB), Certified Concussion Specialist, Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician (CCSP), Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), Acupuncture Certification, Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization Certification, and Certified Kinesio Taping Practitioner (CKTP). Dr. Ron is also a certified member of the National Concussion Registry with the ACBSP.
Dr. Ron’s love for sports medicine began as a small child, swimming and playing water polo competitively for Portage Park in the Chicago Park District in elementary school and high school. Throughout his childhood, he has won numerous state and city championships, set pool and meet records, as well as having held 20 of 22 St. Patrick High School swimming records. He has had multiple All-State nominations, and has since been inducted into the St. Patrick’s HS Hall of Fame in Chicago, in 2003 and 2005.
Dr. Ron’s outgoing personality along with collaborative management with the patient, is what seems to attract his patients. All of his patients comment on how his combination of listening skills, diagnosis, and treatment plans are the most thorough and active they have ever experienced. Dr. Ron takes pride in using common terminology focused for the patient during each exam, because he recognizes that the patient must take ownership in their health, even if he is only providing them with the tools to work with. In addition, he personally completes follow-up phone calls to patients on a regular basis and appreciates new patient referrals, as he says "I am always looking for a new challenge." Dr. Ron has provided services from the Chicago Blackhawks to Mountain Dew Tours, to being selected as a provider for the 2016 Rio Olympic Games. Currently , he enjoys sponsoring teams he works with and volunteering him time with them.
Dr. Ron is a member of the American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians, American Chiropractic Rehabilitation Board, American Chiropractic Association, Texas Chiropractic Society, and the National University Alumni Association. Dr. Ronald Hernandez is THE primary sports medicine specialist, concussion specialist, functional rehabilitation specialist, and sports chiropractor. He has successfully treated patients that have had a long list of surgical and non-surgical problems, including certain common injuries as tennis elbow, rotator cuff injuries, heel injuries, ankle injuries, hip impingements, low back pain, neck pain, knee pain and injuries, to name a few.
